Lugaru 2 Multiplayer
Henry just got initial multiplayer support working; we can now connect and chat and jump around! There is no fighting yet, but this is a great first step.

December 17th, 2006 at 5:46 am
Nice work Henry! I can’t wait!
Cool stances too…
December 17th, 2006 at 6:02 am
Nice!
.
The thing that makes a game live long is often multiplayer, i cant really recall a game that has lived for long and been only multiplayer. Other than Lugaru 1 that is
Good job Henry and keep up the good work!
December 17th, 2006 at 9:37 am
Cool! So, now are you going to start making game modes like CTF and stuff?
December 17th, 2006 at 10:45 am
Sweet! Do they collide/interact yet?
(hmmm… interacting with other players… fun… *climbs on to T’s shoulders and jumps over the wall*
[hey, nobody said I can’t dream.])
December 17th, 2006 at 11:49 am
This looks awesome! Thanks for the update, I can’t wait to see what kind of features will be avaliable to the player’s character.
…Maybe they should collide/interact…

L2 Muli-Player: Perfect for settling flame wars
December 19th, 2006 at 10:53 pm

December 20th, 2006 at 1:27 pm

December 20th, 2006 at 10:04 pm

December 22nd, 2006 at 12:28 am
Yes! I’ve been waiting for a post like this. Very VERY nice work henry. Thats a large step.
Oh, and great work on the Black Shades port as well. (Actually, I just played your port last night!) Gotta love that game.
December 26th, 2006 at 5:09 am
Thank you for that port Henry, still lotsa fun.
Happy Christmas Wolfire!
December 30th, 2006 at 6:06 pm

January 1st, 2007 at 3:25 pm
Lugaru 2 looks awsome! is it even out yet or how can i use this chat and jump around thing? any way, lugaru 2’s graphics look somthing of an xbox 360 game! i have the first lugaru and bought it a long time ago beat it like 50 times and still play and have fun with it i also like black shades a lot!!
January 2nd, 2007 at 7:57 am
Wow, can you make it so you can choose the fur color of your rabbit? oh and a little off topic but please make it so you can swim in the water that would be awesome, and so you can drown people like, (turner kicks stranger in back of head, stranger falls into water, turner seps on back, enemy dies)
January 3rd, 2007 at 6:04 pm
Pyros soul: “Hey, look how fast I can run into this wall!”
(insert name here): “oh, do it, do it, do it”
Pyros soul:”Ok! (smashes himself into other player)”
(insert name here): “No fair, I’m reporting you!”
BTW Will there be some sort of report system or Adm system in L2 Muli?
January 19th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
multi player would be sweet
January 28th, 2007 at 8:19 am
Will lugaru 2 be for 2 players, like co-op, that is a great idea
i have an idea, can Turner have a bow and arrows??
January 28th, 2007 at 8:20 am
WOW, lugaru 2 will be awesome
January 28th, 2007 at 8:26 am
i have an idea for Lugaru 2, it colud be better if you colud cut hands, arms legs heads… etc
February 5th, 2007 at 7:42 pm
So, are there going to be clothes or is it going to be, ah, au naturale?
February 9th, 2007 at 9:16 am
There will be clothes/armor in the game.
It’d be really awesome if you where able to chop off legs and so on like cachiporrin wrote.
It’d also be nice if you could get solowed down if you get cut in the leg or if someone cuts your string to the heel you could be almost chanceless because you would not be able to walk.
BTW is there coming a new update soon? Im getting impatient
.
February 10th, 2007 at 8:21 am
where can you play it?
February 10th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
You cant, its not released yet.
February 10th, 2007 at 9:50 pm
i would love to see a MMORPG style lugaru with lots of enemy types and weapons and possibly guilds that one would join and fight alongside, also i would give each guild a castle which must be defended from other guilds. it would also be cool if it we skill oriented and not in any way would your skills change by equipping items, this would be good if there where types of classes you could be, for example a ninja, and a sorcerer, of course to use skills with the sorcerer would be difficult, maybe you could hold down an assigned “spell button” and move the cursor in a particular pattern to cast the spell, also to make the game more of an elitist game dont give a explanation of the spells possible. oh and add some massive elite monsters such as dragons that take more that one person to handle (unless you are extremely talented at the game) and make it possible to jump upon it to say… get to its eyes and stab them? but while you are up there you could possibly come across an enemy from another guild and would have an epic battle upon the back of a dragon… one can only wish though i suspect, tell me if im wrong
February 11th, 2007 at 11:38 am
I think thats more of wishing. It would be extremeley cool though.
This game will be set in a streaming world, right? I just cant wait to fly across those vast landscapes together with my friends
.
I just expect that there will be coop, if not, Ill kill someone. Maybe with a rusty spoon? ah well, i dont know…
There will be coop, right?
February 12th, 2007 at 12:12 am
well i didnt really mean using the dragon to fly although that could be cool, possibly a character class that harnesses beasts as pets? oh and by “not changing skills by equipping items” i mean no weapons or armor that give you magical abilities, i would love to see an extended array of weapons. but i mean this is my dream, imagine being inside your guilds castle doing something and suddenly this war starts and you run outside into a battle where another guild is attacking your castle and you see mages flying on smaller horse sized dragons and warriors battling and archers shooting and just a big war and… AHH ZOMG it would be the greatest!!!! and another thing, maybe the monsters could attack other monsters and increase in strength and difficulty and the forests if left would expand concealing the inhabitants and making them incredibly strong, and if the developer knew about these strong monsters and no one else did he could edit those monsters like evolution… for example changing a herbivore to a carnivore… an ever changing world… oh and UndeadHawk i find salad fingers to be disturbing
February 12th, 2007 at 9:21 am
Where did salad fingers get in the picture? He really is disturbing (disturbed too).
What you are talking about sound really cool. 2 bad it would take so many years to complete that kind of game
.
Maybe it would be possible, it depends on how moddable Wolfire decides to make their game, and also how many players a server will support.
February 14th, 2007 at 3:30 am
well i just thought that the comment about the rusty spoon might have something to do with it.
and yes this would be one of the marvels of the gaming world, definitely rival world of warcraft…
February 16th, 2007 at 11:01 am
Yeah, there is practicaly no action-MMORPGs out there, i have played one and that is Planetside. That was a MMOFPS but a game like this would totally rock!
February 19th, 2007 at 11:50 pm
yeah i would certainly pay for it. but the chances of my dream becoming reality is slim, although even a small part of it would be good.
may i ask what the developers think of my idea?
February 23rd, 2007 at 10:39 am
Maybe some day, infamous, maybe some day.
February 25th, 2007 at 10:48 pm
How come no more blog updates are coming out?
February 28th, 2007 at 9:52 am
lugaru is cool i want lugaru 2!
March 4th, 2007 at 12:13 am
Looks great, i just started playing this game and i get my butt kicked at easy level, haha i suck
March 7th, 2007 at 1:55 am
You couldn’t have been playing this game, cause it’s not released yet. You must be speaking of the first game, Lugaru, not Lugaru 2.
March 7th, 2007 at 5:00 am
Thats right.
Yeah, no update in a whole quarter of a year! Does this mean no visual progress has been made? Thats the only explanation I can come up with… Or they are loading up for a mega cool über release like a tech demo or something…
That’d be cool
.
March 8th, 2007 at 9:36 pm
A tech demo would be pretty cool. I agree. We need more updates on this. The forums are getting boring
. And there arent even any ROUGH ESTIMATES about when L2 will come out?
March 8th, 2007 at 10:08 pm
This game isn’t some giant corporate release. It will be avalible when it is completely finished. We don’t need an estimate. All we need is patience.
March 12th, 2007 at 10:46 am
That is true Xegrot…
I think its rather unprobable that nothing new has been made yet… I want to see what you guys has been up to
.
March 20th, 2007 at 6:11 pm
DON”T MAKE THIS GAME AN MMORPG
Ever played runescape? BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME EVER. frankly, I just don’t see the point in MMORPG’s, I have never played a decent rpg in my life, and I think that if lugaru has any elements simmilar to an RPG added, It will be bad. Keep it like the original… Mindless kiling. If this becomes an RPG, i might have to shoot myself… or someone else…
March 21st, 2007 at 7:46 pm
It probably isn’t gonna be an MMORPG but there will (?) be multiplayer. RPG elements won’t always make a game bad. Weapon upgrades or being able to obtain more powerful weapons is an RPG element, and it actually helps you along the way. Also, Lugaru is story driven (I guess) which kind of puts you in the role of the character… so isn’t every game out there an Role Playing Game in their own way?
Unless it’s a “mindless killing” game where your only goal was to kill and move on. That isn’t very exciting unless it’s got something to go along with it.
March 26th, 2007 at 5:30 am
Or tetris style games
.
.
I like all kinds of games, RPG, strategy, FPS, MMORPG, racing.. The only kind I dont like is sports, but racing is a sport so i guess i like those too
Anyway, I think this is insane, I need update!
March 31st, 2007 at 11:46 am
Please update the blog!!! I am dieing to know what is goin on!!!
May 3rd, 2007 at 3:26 am
Multiplayer sounds totally awesome ^^ Maxwell is right, this blog hasn’t been updated since last december.
May 4th, 2007 at 12:06 pm
That means its almost half a year since the last update, has the develvopment stoped?
May 5th, 2007 at 11:39 am
Have you guys noticed that the school year is STILL going on? He’s probably caught up in work and probably doesn’t have time to update. If we’re lucky, we won’t be getting another update until summer starts.
May 6th, 2007 at 4:05 am
Damn! He still goes to school!? I thought that he was way older than that! Especially considering the games he has made!!
In that case I herby withdraw and apologize for all of my earlier posts where I directly or indirectly whined for updates.
May 7th, 2007 at 10:53 am
Development has not stopped… David has been balancing schoolwork and a next generation physics engine. See the forums for more details.
June 9th, 2007 at 8:52 pm
Well, now it’s summer, so David has more time! Swoot!
June 13th, 2007 at 11:40 pm
Hey Hey Every Body!!!
I’ve been watching in secret silence for over a year, I was there when everyone was trying to figure out that whole XP thing. Anyway, It’s high time I say something! Not sure why, but its time… Oh and before I say anything, I know that all this would be better suited for the forums but, hey, I noticed a nice little tangency about dragons and salad fingers, so I assume your a pretty easy going community ready to accept people’s flaws, (notice my uncanny ability to make run on sentences). Ok, Here I Go, I’mm’a speak up… (still have no idea what I’m going to say so bear in mind that whats coming is COMPLETLY off the top of my head.)
This game truly has potential to shake the very foundations of the industry. After playing the previous game’s demo for about 5 min. I immediately purchased the full version. Yadda Yadda Yadda, long story short… GREAT JOB!!! Dont stop doing what your doing. If I had money, theres a pretty good chance you’d get a generous donation, Unfortanatly being a teen follower of the 60’s counter-culture mean that I havn’t I dime to my name, actually I think I have Five bucks in a small jar on my dresser. Cool. I could buy some gum and a toothbrush. But tangencies aside. Way to go. Very, VERY good work.
Until next time…
-PEACE
June 16th, 2007 at 6:24 am
Wow this was last updated at 2006, I hope your still working on it.
August 30th, 2007 at 12:23 am

and if ur not can some1 plaz make it for mac that would be the koolest thing ever!!!
September 13th, 2007 at 10:08 am
It will be for mac aswell, after all lugaru was originaly a mac game.
September 26th, 2007 at 1:41 pm
I think the whole game looks awesome. I’m very excited about a multiplayer ability! (Along with pretty much everything else I’ve seen) One thing (just a suggestion) I really love games that offer co-op missions as well as versus modes. Could this functionality be added? That would be awesome!
September 26th, 2007 at 2:08 pm
Yeah, maybe like travel mode: you and some other players would try to help each other to get to a certain possition on the map. or maybe co op battle: you and three other players would pick a side and attack the opposing team.
One thing that occured to me is maybe two player (not multilayer) mode, with a two side screen view and different controls for each player, helping each other get to hard to reach places or maybe even dueling.
October 28th, 2007 at 6:22 am
u know what this is beginning to look like?
a forum post
November 5th, 2007 at 5:31 pm
The school year once again. AKA, we aren’t going to get a post for a VERY long time. (Sigh.)
November 6th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
What’s salad fingers? Sounds like something that would be in a fast food ad I would see. Some energetic male announcer saying these things as pictures of them go past: “Do you crave fresh crispy lettuce and juicy tomatoes? How about warm, tender, mouth-watering strips of breaded white meat chicken? What about the three combined, and topped off with a thick layer of creamy Newman’s ranch dressing? Well now you can satisfy that crave of yours with McDonald’s new Salad Fingers.”
BTW, I don’t like Newman’s salad dressings. And yes, McDonald’s does have Newman’s dressings or something like it.
February 10th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
i can’t wait to see this game in action, especially online. the first game was great enough to play, even without mltiplayer, i bought it shortly after it came out and i play it over and over again to this day, just trying to beat my old scores, when the second one is released, im gettin it for sure.
March 2nd, 2008 at 10:11 pm

March 26th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Wow… When I first found out a few days ago that there was a lugaru 2 in progress I almost cried from joy. Lugaru 1 was sweet, but i only have the demo. By the way, will there be a demo for lugaru 2? If not, i might shoot myself.
June 22nd, 2008 at 11:32 am
is there later going to be a chat server and a fighting server that hosts free for all or team battles
