www.wolfire.com/SOS.sit

A sort of test game built on an early version of the Lugaru 1 engine, I think.

Ooh, Shiny. :)
why was it made? its a pretty good FPS. even though they are robots and there could be a quit button rather than the ` quit. to leave the game.

its so simple and yet it has a good feel to it. i did not get Motion sickness after playing it like i did the game Sky-net or DOOM II. i noticed it had a few thing in common with Black Shades.

who made it? the amazing David and Jeff?
or was there another Programer who was Responsible for this?

and if David and Jeff were the makers, why did they not work on it some more?

Probably because they made Lugaru afterwards, and because it was a sort of test game?

The ground shouldn't be grey, but the metal structures and such should.

Also, can anyone figure out what the repair key does? It doesn't seem to work

It gives you the same satisfaction of lugaru when you see all those sparks fly off the enemy's body and that satisfying bzzt-bzzlzt sound, doesn't it?

So, yeah, this game deserves a few dozen cakes and 100 cookies :D

P.S: While changing things in the config file I saw a lot of lugaru's control settings in there, but no repair key, so maybe it was just a dud key, or an outdated manual from before repairing became automatic or something

Some interesting things about SoS:
Disabling limbs and parts of limbs is FUN!
Third-person mode can be cool sometimes (Press Tab to switch views, I only found this out accidentally)
Trees shake when shot at
Holes in bodies and such look pretty cool
Disabling someone's ankle makes them sorta limp
Knocking someone over with a shot looks pretty cool, especially close-up
You could make a whole army of people follow you around and not shoot you by just running around disabling their gun hands

Also, it might be cool if people would start making maps for SoS, not just Lugaru

And, SoS screenshot of two "Metalman Brothers" (Notice their disabled gun hands!):

Look, it's a Robo-Party!:

Mod away, feel free to change anything in any of our games, as long as you don't sell anything or distribute registered copies.
