David is right about using shadows to show the relationship of objects to each other. I decided to have a go at it to give a more complete example of what he was talking about:
oh and btw, thats not his real head its a mask
because to join the jackels you have to prove your stength by killing a wolf-like creature (which is namless right now), and use its head to make a mask and use its fur and hide to make shin pads (i would do more but i thought thins up when i was almost finished) then use the scales on its tail to make some sort of trophey

It would probably help just to sketch in the outline of the feet, just to help show where the ground plane is. I hope this suggestion doesn't offend anybody too much...
