Old Timers Retirment Home
Hey all, it's Korban3 on a new account. Lost account access and email access years ago and fell off the train and now all of my old forum friends are inactive (and I am sad because I miss y'all)
Posting this thread to hopefully catch up with some of y'all. It's been a wild ride since then.

Yo Korban3, nice to see you again!
I haven't shared much of my personal life on these forums in the past, but in recent years I've finished school and have been working at Wolfire for two years or so.
What about yourself, what's been happening?

Yeah, it's pretty rad that you're on the crew! Glad things are going well.
I've mostly been hanging in there and getting by. I've been doing art sorta part time nowadays to pay my bills.

Korban! I recognized that name immediately. Good to see you again mate!
Can't say there is much life left in the forums nowadays, I also don't lurk as much as I used to, as you no doubt can tell seeing it took me over a month to spot this thread. The forums losing their recognizable styling hurts too, it feels less like the home it used to be. I still browse occasionally or look through the archives of; I never forgot the great times I had here. I rarely post these days. I know many have moved on to other places like Discord, but that isn't really for me. The forums will be my home at the Wolfire community until it dies or I do.
But returning to topic, yeah, live's been treating me well, although not that much has changed. I started at the university in 2010, amidst the times this place was booming with activity, yet nowadays I'm mere weeks away from finishing the last piece of research I will work on before leaving the academic world behind for the foreseeable future. I've been working as a part-time software engineer already, and am looking to make that my full-time occupation for the next few years.
I hope this message finds you well. It may take months until I check in again, so until then!

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the universe trying to build bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Yeah, I was disappointed to see the old style was gone. I do lurk the Discord lightly these days.
Glad to here everything's going alright.

*Emerges from under a rock*
I also still exist. I lurk here every few months but haven't posted in uh... A long time. It's cool to see a couple faces I remember from way back in the day when I was a much younger (and dumber) person, and it's super rad to see some are on the Wolfire crew now! I remember popping on here a few months ago and seeing the old styling had gone and that made me do a sad as a little bit of nostalgia left my soul.
I did the university thing and finished that last year. I'm working in a bar now while I try to support starting a career as an Actor, I also Write, and (very occasionally) do really bad Stand-Up Comedy.
And with that, back under my rock I go.

Granted, I was bored. But I think it was time well spend. I hope you enjoy the rush of nostalgia as much as I did while making this. https://userstyles.org/styles/166796/cl ... ire-forums

I wonder if anyone remembers me from my cringe old self...

It's always good to see a old familiar face, even if we have all become a bit older and wiser.
