Re: Dual weilding
well, I like the idea.
If it is too impractical, well I think only being able to use shorter and blades like knives and short swords for dual wielding would make it more realistic

Making the animations is impractical. In real life, people used a dagger with a sword, but also two swords, two hammers, two axes, two clubs etc.cachiporrin wrote:well, I like the idea.

Heh.... yeahStranger wrote:^^ ...I feel like someone else has been playing Shogun 2 as well.
I already knew of Musashi from Samurai Warriors (where he dual wields swords, as it happens), before Shogun 2, though.

Re: Dual weilding
What if you could "dual wield" like this: you could hold one short sword/knife/hatchet in your hand and have one sheathed at the same time. That way if you lose one during battle or if you throw one, you have a back up. Long/heavy swords or spears would still be one at a time. I think that would be cool.

Cool idea! I assume you haven't checked the Wolfire Twitter recently?Mortified Penguin wrote:What if you could "dual wield" like this: you could hold one short sword/knife/hatchet in your hand and have one sheathed at the same time. It looks like that feature was implemented recently.

Re: Dual weilding
YAY thay added dual weilding
Re: Dual weilding
Although duel-wielding is cool to look at, it would proably suck in a real situation.
With two blades you kind of lose some control over them. So you probably just tripled the chances you'll cut yourself by accident. And I can't really imagine a real use for the second one except to maybe make quicker parryies.
But you do look pretty dam menacing.
For the game though it'd make a get way to just one-man-army their ass.
Throw knife one
Throw knife two
Draw sword
Throw sword
Draw scabard
Throw scabard
Kick in the head of stunned opponent
Begain celebratory crouching

Quicker parries is a damn good reason.Zelron wrote:Although duel-wielding is cool to look at, it would proably suck in a real situation.

Being able to parry at the same time you're attacking? Really, really powerful.
If you have one weapon and attack, you're vulnerable. If the enemy dodges, his sword is free and he gets to attack you, and your sword is still out there.
If you have a second weapon and attack, you're still able to defend yourself. Not only that, but if your opponent dodges without attacking, you can start attacking with the second weapon as the first one is returning to normal position.

Well not anymore, it IS pretty impractical unless you're very well trained. There's scores of martial arts that utilize a weapon in each hand.Monkeyy wrote:In real life, does anyone actually dual wield weapons? >_>
Would there really be an advantage?
And I'm stil talking about knives/swords here, just a hypotetical. In real life I would never want to fight someone with a knife in BOTH my hands, it would be incredibly impractical.
Also parry knives are really common, a sword in one hand to attack and a knife in the other to parry. They make knives for that exact purpose!
