Re: New alpha todaayyy????
When should we epect Alpha 2 to come out? Tomorow? Tonight?
Re: New alpha todaayyy????
They may said "one alpha per week", but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be at the beginning of the week. Like some already said before: wait until it's ready.
Re: New alpha todaayyy????
Our philosophy is to release early and often. Unless there are some serious issues, I don't see why we will not have an alpha 2 ready within 24 hours. But yeah, please do not expect exact deadlines. We'll do our best, but there is no compelling reason to pull an all-nighter or anything to ship an alpha on arbitrary dates.
Re: New alpha todaayyy????
Sorry, we are actually in the process of adding some new things, so the build has a bunch of known bugs right now. After consulting with IRC, we decided to push back alpha 2 a day or two.
Re: New alpha todaayyy????
That's more than reasonable, given the nature of alpha builds.
Still, I'm sure we'll see someone ready to complain about the shortest delay in game development history.

Adding new stuff to play with and postponed release date for Alpha 2? ANY TIME!
Re: New alpha todaayyy????
Indeed.
Wolfire, As long as you can keep working at a steady rate, never limit yourself to guidelines. It results in stress, and hassled and hurried work. And I really, REALLY want to see Lugartoo worked to the fullest <3

I reckon the next alpha can take its time, wouldn't mind waiting until the player models are in.

I'm more than willing to wait if it means having a playable character that can run and jump around

Well, some steps in between would be nice too...

one week later.....
Re: New alpha todaayyy????
Sorry for the delay. I hate making release estimates that are too ambitious. Here's the latest on Alpha 2 -- it is probably about a week away.
As discussed in IRC, this first alpha is kind of a special case as we are working out our routine and things have been really crazy lately, me flying to India and David to NY (we are back now). However, once Alpha 2 is released, we are going into a strict one release per week schedule, ready or not. This way you guys can keep up on the development.
Most weeks will be a Jeff / John "leak build" where John and I secretly package the alpha and leak it to you guys. We will toss in Aubrey's latest models and art, and possibly grab new engine stuff. These are just for educational purposes and we will not really support them at all.
However, every ~three weeks or so, David will "bless" a build and that will be considered a milestone that is officially supported and should be tested hard.
We're totally open to feedback on all of this as we have never tried this before.
