I assume he's talking about Dwarf Fortress. Shit that game is ugly.

Also, to everyone contemplating why women aren't plentiful in this forum, I have the mother of all solutions: Enable signatures. Girls can't resist them.

It's either that or simple bad luck. There aren't all that many people hanging out here in the first place. Perhaps Bay12Games' forums seem like they have more women because there are more people in general, but ratio-wise it may be just about the same. The fact that this forum is centered around a game series where you beat rapist bunny rabbits to death in bone-shattering bloodbaths might also have something to do with it.
THE Dwarf Fortress may be ugly, but man is that game awesome, fun and huge! Try playing with graphic\tilesets, they make it a little less ugly. Sorry for the offtopic talk, but I've gotta defend Dwarf Fortress.

more offtopicness but I just gotta say it:

I discovered DF a few days ago. it's kinda frustrating, but it's incredibly in-depth, especially for something that looks like it was made for DOS =p

*dials 111*

Hello? I've got someone here who just dissed Dwarf Fortress. Send the robot monkey ninja-pirates, mmkay?

No, seriously. That game is beautiful. Probably the most beautiful Curses and/or ASCII game I've seen.

1. The game frustrated me.
2. I sucked at it.
3. I stopped playing it and went back to playing Halo 3, because I think that's far more fun and way less annoying.
4. Sorry for having an opinion, please do not have a baby about it.

DF defends itself. Crossbowdwarves are scary.

People are allowed to say they think DF sucks. It's not true, but they can say it. It does have interface problems, and it's extremely daunting at first, but there's something... endearing about it.

It's also not everyone's cup o' tea.

@Ren: everyone sucks at DF. Some people just suck in more spectacular ways than others. :P

As soon as it gets to opinons, everyone around here goes apeshit.... >>

I can't say I've ever enjoyed Dwarf Fortress at all. Not even one bit. No crack-a-smile or anything.

In fact, this may even be because I've never played it. So what?

A lot of people have been directing people who don't like it/get it to this recent YouTube tutorial series about Dwarf Fortress, deemed by many a DF-player as the best DF tutorial that the world has to offer. This tutorial series is over two hours long. If that doesn't convince some of you that Dwarf Fortress has some major usability and interface (i.e. gameplay and graphics) problems, you may just in fact be nuts. Old roguelikes had an excuse to be ugly and complicated to use, as technology back then didn't allow for any better. A game made today doesn't have that excuse. You can't say that it's simply abiding to an old-school theme, because that's not true either. Old-school roguelikes didn't require 512mb of RAM.

Anyway, this is all I have to say about this matter. I'm going to go back to :SQUEALING WITH JOY:!! ^,...,^
