Newbie is alright if used in the right situation.

And when not confused with noob and/or n00b. However, I do believe that there are lots of people (Can you use that term for them?) out there that are just plain n00bs. The nice new guy is a newbie and/or newb. The yelling, deranged, drooling idiot with a deep frier in his closet is a n00b and/or noob, it's clear to see.

Even experienced game players can be branded n00bs or noobs if they act that way. Sort of "0MG I H4D U TH3R3 U H4XX3D!" would cound as being a n00b in counter strike, even if that player is an experienced AWP whore. (Yes, I played a bit of Counter Strike Source a little while back. It got boring though, not enough tactics, too much 1 hit kills. So I stick with Rainbow Six now )

BWS, I must say, the supposed correct usage of the terms you just posted would mean that the correct usage is in fact used about 1% of the time.

He's quite right. "Newbie" or "newb" include the words "new" for the purposes of emphasizing that they're novices, and it's not used as an insult except by noobs. "Noob" is an insulting term for someone regardless of their experience at the given task/game.

Yeah...because I'd be really affected if someone told me I was new to something. Oh my feelings.

Obviously not, because you're apparently as confused in trying to differentiate between "noob" and "newb" as you were with the words "amoral" and "immoral", possibly more. Let's take this slowly, then. A newbie is someone who is a novice. They may be naturally skilled or they may not, but either way, they lack experience and are generally not to be criticized for that. A noob is someone who, regardless of their experience, still sucks. For example, I am a newb at Tribal Wars. You are a noob at reading, apparently.

What was the difference between noob and newbie again?
