I meant the "dirty tricks", not the whole mode.

ahhh, Then I'll agree with you. Traps and other dirtIER tricks are good. :P

(guess the dirtyness of them would depend on David's imaginative brain... <do NOT insert dirty joke here>)

[Epic and non-epic] Assassin, Assault the Village, and everything David suggested would kick so hard, I'd be in orbit by now.

Add to that any RPG-themed multiplayer mode (the "build up your village" mode suggested by Kalexon, for example) would be perfect for the setting.

This would be an easy one to program- 2-4 players try to knock each other off a floating platform. The last man standing wins.

Just a note to David about the ninja syle of play: In that style of play I suggest that you make the ninja team smaller then the guard team becuase the ninjas would acheive there objective by stealth I would think, the large numbers would make co-ordinating the people stealthly hard. And if the teams are small to begin with *shrugs* maybe add some NPC's to the guards team.
@zip: Yeah, I ran through all of the code, just looking for ways to make it easier to port
...which just shows how little he knows about it.I ported it without changing a single line of code.

The multplayer modes in Splinter Cell Chaos Theory where pretty good. They where sorta like the "ninja" style of play that David was talking about... It also had co-op(not sure if that would work though).

what about...something like ut2k4's (and probably others too) mode named "invasion"? Where there either
1) comes a certain ammount of enemies after you killed them all
or
2) there just randomly enter enemies whenever they want.

this will result in there being more and more enemies, as well as each new enemy is harder to beat than the last one.

just a little sugestion.

Hmm... the taking control of insects and birds reminds me of the tactical First/third person shooter "Operation Flashpoint". After you died, if you waited a while you would take control of a seagull and you could flap around the map as if you were in spectator mode or something.

BUT the whole thing gave me an idea, I know that you shouldn't really be pushing ideas at this stage without even having the engine built yet (Which so far looks absolute ass-kickery in computational form.) but I digress.

My idea is to have two teams, each with base camps, villages, whatever. with a certain amount of NPCs in, and at the start of the game you take control of an NPC, and fight as them, and when you die you take cotrol of another and so on and so forth, so far sounds like a kind of last team standing with pooled lives, BUT what makes it unique is that the NPCs could be killed by the other team, so you'd have to defend your village and villagers as well as attacking the other team... so the player is less of a character and more of a "warrior spirit" that possesses the poor frightened villagers, I guess... I dunno how feasable this whole shebang would be, but to my mind it could be fun and frantic...

So what do you all think? Yay or nay?
Oh and hello! I'm new.

Edit: Forgot to mention that there should be two teams. What a dunce.
