Dodge - half of the players are targets, and the other half are shooters. The targets stand in front of a wall, and the shooters stand behind a line a short distance away. The targets' goal is to stay alive as long as possible, and the shooters' goal is to kill as many targets as possible with bows and arrows or throwing knives.

Weapon/Style arena - deathmatch except with only certain weapons or styles enabled, i.e. only throws, or only knives.

Ninja - the players are divided into guards and ninjas. The guards are assigned to protect a small village. The ninjas have a certain amount of time to perform a specific task such as kidnap an NPC, kill all of the guards, or steal an artifact.

....All of the above would be incredibly awesome. o.o
Controlling birds and insects after you are dead sounds like a wonderful detail!
You really should implement modes in the game. (Or at least some of them)

'Cuz it takes special code to make sure UT mutators don't work in Lugaru
*gives break*

Ninja sounds quite similar to a Warcraft 3 map called Ninja vs Samurai, which is a good thing :)

If you had the money for getting permission from companys you could put in Naruto and Ryu Hayabusa into that mode. If that happen the game would sell even more that it would be ported to the xbox 360 and playstation 3.

WHAT. That could happen, or maybe the characters could be a custom skin or a mod of some sort.

David, those are all really awesome ideas!

And as for the Anime (or whatever) players suggested, if David made the game able to have custom models, he wouldn't need permission because end-users could create and release them free of charge and there wouldn't be as much that the companies could do about it.

I allready knew that. I was just saying if he could oficialaly put those characters into the game that would be cool. Like I said, those characters could be custom skins/custom models.

The problem is that if they would license Naruto and that other character out to us at all it would cost hundreds of thousands, if not millions.

Not to mention that they would be horribly out of place in the game.. but a user could add them.

I thought David fairly clearly stated that he was not good at writing net code. Has this changed all the sudden or are we just fantasizing?

I don't have much experience with netcode aside from Lightning's Shadow, but the only way to get new skills is to try new things.

i like some of David's ideas...Ninja almost sounds like Tenchu...trying to sneak in to assassinate people...also, could you maybe make a WWII level? the whole continent would be the same, just the people's clothes and stuff would change...I found that that would be interesting...Also, Ben, too many people have bugged him about Lugaru MP...if they get it, it won't be mentioned besides for bug reports, comments, questions, etc. Lastly, David, if you ever need help with Net code, I've got minor experience from trying to get "The Mana World" to run in Panther...Nayr knows that it's a b*tch trying to work with libxml, but, it's useable all the more, I got it to partially work...I ended up missing one header...
