Lugaru 2: RFE: Heavy realistic weather

Post by rudel_ic » Wed Jan 11, 2006 7:12 pm

I'm really looking forward to a first version of Lugaru 2! One thing is for sure right now: The weapons will look great, and physics simulation seems to become quite accurate.

One thing I really would like to be able to experience in the final version is heavy weather. I mean weather that not just affects clothes simulation and makes trees move, but really heavy weather. If the wind would be able to move objects and affect the combat moves, extreme heat would affect the accuracy and fitness of the fighters, the rain would sometimes be so heavy you can't see further than a few meters and would actually fill up deeper parts of the landscape, snow would make the ground slippery and change the landscape so that the wind builds hills of snow over time, I'd be more than satisfied.

As far as I understood it, we will be able to move around endlessly in the world of Lugaru 2, so changing weather with the effects described above would be fitting in perfectly.

Some of the effects I've mentioned could be realized with particles, but there are other ways. It would be insane to fill up deeper parts of the landscape with rain or let the wind build hills with snow with particles, that's certain.

Thanks for considering it.

*expresses support* :D

I bet L2 will feature environments in this range of awesomeness, whatever they will be.

Yes, I really agree. Although if it doesn't end up having things like that, I would still be happy with what we know about L2 already.

Oh, btw... what is the "RFE" for in the title?

That would be great.

Heavy raining would be great.
Heavy fog too.
None of all games I have played have really met my wants on weather.

fog is easy.... incredibly so.

Rain is a bit harder, or at least optimizing it.
