Here is what is new in Overgrowth in the 81st weekly alpha. If you are confused what a weekly alpha is, or even what Overgrowth is, please read our fancy FAQ. Basically, we are developing a massive video game from the ground up -- we are able to do this completely independently by accepting preorders for the game before it's done!

Overgrowth

Here are a few highlights from the source repository:

  • Testing new asset distribution method
  • Added navigation mesh pathfinding
  • Navigation mesh saving and loading
  • Added more ambient occlusion control
  • Safer .dds conversion using intermediate temp file
  • More control over how mipmaps use alpha information
  • Added error message when loading non-power-of-two textures
  • Added distance-based alpha scaling for plants
  • Controls separated from character logic for AI
  • Added AI character who follows player character
